BassFest – East 2016

At the Michigan BassFest young bassists will have a unique opportunity to get together with other young bass players, play ensembles, get instruction from nationally recognized bass teachers and performers, and hear some outstanding bass playing. The Michigan BassFest-East is sponsored by the Michigan Chapter of the American String Teachers Association, and will be hosted by the Music Department of Eastern Michigan University. BASS FEST CLINICIANS

Derek Weller: Professor of Bass at Eastern Michigan University. He is the Principal Bassist of theMichigan Opera Theatre Orchestra. He teaches at the Interlochen Arts Academy and also performs with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Carmel California Bach Festival.

Kevin Brown: Principal Bassist with the Detroit Symphony. Please note that Kevin Brown will be performing the Vanhal Concerto for Bass with the Detroit Symphony on March 31, and April 1 & 2.This is a performance that all young bassist should attend. Check the Detroit Symphony website at www.dso.org for times, location and ticket information.

John Kennedy: String teacher and orchestra director for the Farmington Public Schools. He is a frequent clinician at bass workshops around the country. He is also the Past President of the International Society of Bassists.
