This year is the 25th year of the MASTA Chamber Music Festival and Competition! The festival will take place at the Michigan State University music building on Monday, March 7, 2016. The guest artists are critically acclaimed Kontras Quartet from Chicago. To read more about the Kontras Quartet, please go to www.kontrasquartet.com.
Please encourage your 7th-12th grade ensembles to attend this anniversary year! 9th-12th grade ensembles are eligible to compete for a cash prize and to represent MASTA at the Michigan Youth Festival as “Best Ensemble in State.” Teachers are not required to attend. For more information on participating and registering go to http://astamichigan.org/events/chamber-music-festival. All forms will posted soon. If you have questions, e-mail Nathan Peters email@example.com.
The MASTA Chamber Music Festival is a great event for students who want to continue to play more music with their ensemble after Solo and Ensemble Festivals or who would like to have more coaching to prepare for the State Solo and Ensemble Festival and other competitions. Middle school and high school ensembles from my school district have enjoyed attending and have learned a lot from guest teachers!
Many thanks to this year’s sponsors: Michigan State University, Baroque Violin Shop, Marshall’s Music Company, Psarianos Violin Shop, D’ Addario Strings , Mark Schwartz Violin Shop.
