Dear Retired Music Educator:</p>

I serve on a Covid-19 Task Force of Michigan music organizations – MSBOA, MSVMA, MMEA and MASTA.<span> 
</span>I volunteered to set up a group for Retired Music Educators so we can participate in this important work.</p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-size:11pt">
Covid-19 is wreaking havoc around the world and one of the areas facing challenges is Music Education.<span> 
</span>Social distancing threatens the cost effectiveness of large class sizes, the positive PR from successful performances and the social/emotional benefits of participation in a music class.<span>  
</span>As per pupil funding decreases and budget cuts ensue, music programs may be at risk.</p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 8pt;line-height:107%;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;font-size:11pt">
Recently, NYC asked retired doctors and nurses to consider helping during the Covid crisis.<span> 
</span>I am not asking that you return to work!<span>  </span>
I am hoping you will consider joining a group of concerned ‘retired-but-still-inspired’ music educators who will join together to advocate for music education in Michigan.<span> 
</span>United we stand – strength in numbers – the stick breaks but the bundle doesn’t.<span> 
</span>Membership would only require that your name be on a list.<span> 
</span>You might be asked to write a letter or talk to a legislator but it would be purely volunteer.
</p>

Please consider joining RMTM – Retired Music Teachers of Michigan – so we can add your strength and knowledge to the cause.<span>
