Dear MASTA members,

It was been my pleasure to serve as MASTA President for the past
two years. It has been great to see our events returning to being
in person. We had a great MMC conference with Kristen Pellegrino
as our headliner. Mary Kothman has done an amazing job bringing
the chamber music festival to WMU. The national conference in
Atlanta was a wonderful event and it was great to see so many of
our Michigan chapter members there.

Our summer string camps are coming up in June. Session 1
enrollment has been incredible! We still have plenty of openings
for Sessions 2 and 3, so please encourage your students to apply.

Session II dates are June 20 – 24. This 5-day-session is designed
for students in their 2nd or 3rd year of experience in 5th or 7th
grade. This is a more in-depth and longer experience than Session
I. This session is also a great first time camp experience. Nina
White and Joseph Alcocer will be the music directors.
Session III dates are June 26 – July 2. Our week long session is
designed for the middle-school age student currently in grades
7-9. In addition to orchestra, students participate in a chamber
music ensemble, sectionals, music enrichment classes, and a guitar
class. Alan MacNair will be the music director.

As we transition to the new executive board, I want to thank
Linda Trotter who will be leaving the executive board. Linda has
served as Secretary for 10 years and before that as membership
chair and MSBOA Liaison. I also want to thank Dan Scott for his
six years of service. Dan will be stepping down as past-president,
but will remain on the board as our MMC Liaison. Thank you Dan and
Linda!!!

Please welcome to the board Stacey Bowen - Secretary, Alan
MacNair - member-at-large, and Amy Marr - president-elect. Jed
Fritzemeier is now our president, and I am transitioning into the
immediate past-president position. Burke Lokey is continuing as
our Treasurer.

Musically yours,

Michael
