The American String Teachers Association has a reputation for excellence.  The organization is filled with teachers who are dedicated, hard-working and passionate about their craft.  ASTA members care about outcomes and are continually pursuing opportunities to hone their craft.  The group has excellent leadership and faithful members who all do their part to make string teaching and playing continue to be held in high esteem.

The Michigan Chapter of ASTA maintains a similar reputation.  MASTA is one of the largest chapters in the United States.  The Best Website award was bestowed on the chapter this year.  MASTA has members AND students who achieve great things.  Michigan string players are playing in major symphony orchestras and teaching in institutions of higher learning.  Michigan string teachers know the value of string education and the important role it plays in the emotional, spiritual and physical health of our children.

Thank you, MASTA members, for making every lesson count.  Thank you for valuing each and every student.  Thank you for being willing to help your colleagues and for sharing your expertise with the rookies.  Thank you for setting a great example by your work ethic, energy and enthusiasm.  Thank you for investing in the future of our planet by teaching people how to make beautiful orchestral music.  Thank you for making me proud to serve you as President.

Best wishes for your BEST YEAR EVER!

Janis Shier Peterson, President
Michigan American String Teachers Association
