The 8th annual UP Chamber Music Festival held October 13 at Bothwell Middle School in Marquette was a great day for 29 ensembles, 106 students, 17 teachers and several supportive parents. The day was all about growth and it was full of ah-ha moments and smiles!
The events ran exceptionally smoothly because it was held during a PD day for teachers and school was not in session. It also enable some of our band and choral colleagues to participate. One popular class this year was a ‘Fun with Rhythm’ class taught by Jan Brodersen, Marquette Senior HS choral director.
Each ensemble was given a class period to visit instrument displays by Baroque Violin Shop and Heid Music Company. UP string teachers were very excited about how many students purchased quality instruments for HOME PRACTICE!!!!
Special guest clinicians/performers, Ellen Boyer, Lindsey Crabb, Ria Hodgson and Danielle Simandl came from out of town to join us and many string players from the Marquette Symphony Orchestra took the day off to participate. The day was inspiring for ALL!
