The M-Prize Chamber Arts Competition, officially the largest competition of its kind thanks to the number of applicants and the unprecedented grand prize of $100,000, is now accepting applications for the 2017 competition, with a deadline of February, 1, 2017. The event takes place May 1-4, 2017 at the U-M School of Music, Theatre & Dance (SMTD) in Ann Arbor with the grand finale concert at Hill Auditorium on May 4, 2017.

Supported by the U-M Office of the Provost and an anonymous donor, M-Prize also awards an additional $109,000 in prize money divided amongst the winning small ensembles in both junior and senior divisions in three categories: Strings, Winds, and Open (comprising any instrumentation or genre).

The junior division, for ensembles 18 and under, provides an international platform for young ensembles to perform, create lasting relationships with peers and M-Prize alumni, and experience the University of Michigan by meeting current students, faculty, and administrators. All competition rounds are free and open to the public, and we encourage MASTA members as well as students apply and/or attend this exciting and important event for chamber music. We hope to see you in May!
