Subject: Teacher Orchestra Conductor

Dear MASTA Board
In early March, Joel Schut made a request of the MASTA Board for a $1500 grant to fund Scott Laird as the 2019 Teacher Orchestra conductor.  I have spent the last month plus with Jim VanEizinga looking at options to make this work without costing MASTA any money.  This is why there has been a delay in making this decision.

In the past, the guest conductor has received a free hotel room for the conference.  That is all the honorarium that has been given.  The hotel room has been covered by the profits from the conference that come to MASTA.

We need approval of the board to pursue this plan for the 2019 Teacher Orchestra and to add this to the budget for the MMC for next year.
