Dear Colleagues, Students, Families, and Friends,
It is with great enthusiasm that I write this email regarding an upcoming
concert I have helped plan and am inviting you to attend! On Sunday,
February 15th, at 4:00 PM, we will present the debut concert of the Ann
Arbor Camerata. The Ann Arbor Camerata is a new professional chamber
ensemble in Ann Arbor and I am honored to be the founding Artistic
Director. This concert will showcase the area's finest classical musicians
in the area and musicians from around the globe.
I have spoken to many of you about this event, but now more than ever I am
excited to invite you to this concert! As a project that has been in the
planning stages for more than a year, the Ann Arbor Camerata is setting out
to accomplish many things. First, we plan to provide an opportunity for
performers to bring great music to the already thriving musical scene of Ann
Arbor in a variety of settings. Second, we plan to have the concerts at a
time of day that younger students can attend without interrupting their
nighttime sleep routines! Third, create concerts that include a variety of
music, ranging from small chamber works to large symphonic presentations.
Fourth, this is a perfect opportunity for music students to see their
teachers perform in a way that aims to inspire them to continue making music
on their own instruments.
Our first concert will feature University of Michigan Professor of Violin,
Aaron Berofsky and Kathryn Votapek playing Mozart's stunning Sinfonia
Concertante, a concerto for violin and viola. These fine artists will be
accompanied by a small chamber orchestra. The first half of the program
will contain two beautiful chamber works; the Mozart Oboe Quartet and the
Brahms Piano Trio in B major.
I know with your support of this concert there will be many more in the
future! I truly hope you consider attending this concert and I look forward
to seeing you all soon! The concert details are in an invitation at the
bottom of this message. There is also an article in the Ann Arbor Observer
(pg. 46) outlining this debut event.
Sincerely,
Mark Schuppener
