Dear MASTA Members,

I need a little help! Last week during the MASTA Summer Camps a local
Howell resident saw our signs and contacted me looking for information
on string opportunities around Howell Michigan. Being from the "west
side", I'm not sure of all the opportunities. The e-mail from the
mother is below, so if anyone could contact me with any opportunities
this girl may have around Howell I would appreciate it.

Thanks Much
Dan Scott

Hi Dan,
You and I spoke on the phone a few weeks ago about the camp you had
out at Howell Nature Center. We missed that program due to our recent
move back to Michigan. We are still in our move process and I am just
getting back from training out of state. But you may recall my
daughter was playing violin through the SC school system. She will be
entering 7th grade in the fall and just has the one year of
experience. Her school in Howell does not have a strings program.

You were going to recommend some resources for her to continue to
pursue playing after school. I am hoping to find an organized program
that she can participate in outside of private lessons as they are
expensive and I could probably only budget once or twice a week and I
don't know how much she would learn in that limited amount of
instruction.

Also if she were to take band in school (rather than the alternative
of choir) what would be the best transitional instrument to choose
when coming from the violin?

Thank you so much for your time as she does want to keep playing and I
want to encourage her.
