> Field Trip Organization and Teaching Artists Directory
> Now Open!
> Need help finding a field trip destination or in-class teaching artist? Explore the possibilities on our Field Trip Organization and Teaching Artists Directory, located on the Michigan Youth Arts website. This free online tool serves as a valuable resource for arts educators in Michigan, as it allows them to pinpoint the perfect arts or cultural experience for their students, searchable by subject, price range, location, grade level, and more. The database not only broadens access to field trip opportunities, but encourages the practice of bringing teaching artists directly into the classroom, which will supplement a robust school-based arts curriculum. The database currently includes approximately 400 arts and cultural organizations, performances, residencies, and workshops.

> Poetry Out Loud Registration
> Deadline: Nov. 15, 2013
> Since 2005, more than 33,000 Michigan students have participated in Poetry Out Loud, a national poetry recitation competition for high school students. The program, presented in Michigan by the Michigan Humanities Council and Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, encourages youth to learn about great poetry through memorization and performance while building public speaking skills, increasing self-confidence, and exploring literary heritage. This is a free program open to all Michigan high schools (including home school groups). Each partnering school hosts a school wide competition, naming a school champion, and then each champion is invited to compete at the state competition with an opportunity to be named State Champion and compete at the national level. Those who participate in the state competition will also be invited to attend the 52nd Michigan Youth Arts Festival in May!
