Hello MASTA members, the Dorothy Gerber Strings Program will be hiring an Assistant Director for the 2018/2019 school year with the deadline for applications being May 1. The DGSP provides a variety of string music programs for the Northwestern region of Michigan.  Funded by the Gerber family and sponsored by the Charlevoix Circle of Arts, the DGSP offers in-school strings classes, private lessons, Suzuki lessons and a growing youth orchestra.  The Assistant Director would ideally have a Bachelors degree in Music Education and certification in the Suzuki method.  Responsibilities would include teaching in multiple school classrooms, teaching a studio of Suzuki students and other duties based on the qualifications of the person who is hired.  This is a great way to make a difference "up north" for students who would not otherwise have opportunities to study stringed instruments.
