Hello MASTA Members,
Today the state executive board met to handle the regular business of the
organization and of course our current pandemic was a major topic of
discussion. National ASTA has provided resources on the website which I
urge you to look at. www.astastrings.org

Linda Trotter, MASTA Secretary shared this article by Strad magazine
highlighting a study in Berlin giving orchestras guidelines for
rehearsals. The details are helpful for when restrictions are lifted. The
article can be found here:
https://www.thestrad.com/berlin-study-issues-recommendations-for-orchestral-distancing/10641.article?fbclid=IwAR3breJQfEkxPu8h8LoSuvtEwpQyvUMJMQp7DwwHp_Ka6bbnkDra8eG0018

Please know that MASTA and ASTA National will continue to monitor
information and provide resources whenever possible. There are many
unknowns right now and our goal is to keep string playing and teaching as
strong as ever when we get to the other side of this phase.

We are discussing some virtual get together's over the summer to help
everyone share ideas and we hope that our MASTA community can provide
leadership to all of music education in Michigan to keep string education
and performance as strong as ever.

Best wishes to you all,
Dan Scott
President (outgoing)
MASTA
