Dear MASTA members,

I am writing to invite you to a special event next week. I am hosting
a reception for Dr. Robert Gillespie, to present him with the 2021 U-M
Hall of Fame Alumni Award.  The reception will take place on *Monday
December 6 from 6:30 - 7:30 PM in the Hussey Room on the 2nd floor of
the Michigan League.* Following the reception, the University Symphony
Orchestra will be performing in Hill Auditorium at 8 PM. The concert is
free, no tickets required. The USO will perform Symphony No 3 by
Johannes Brahms, Three Latin American Dances by Gabriela Lena Frank (DMA
‘01, composition), and La Valse by Maurice Ravel under the direction of
Kenneth Kiesler.

Dr. Gillespie received his PhD in Music Education from U-M in 1985 and
has had an incredibly distinguished career with really important
contributions to string education and ASTA (please see his bio below).
Joining me to present Dr. Gillespie with the award and share some
thoughts on his career will be Bob Phillips and Robin Bloomberg. If you
are currently near Ann Arbor we hope you can join us to celebrate Dr.
Gillespie's contributions to string education. U-M catering will be
providing food and beverages.

If you are able to join us, please RSVP using this Google Form:
https://forms.gle/CmxuEtjCyNfMxrYB9.
*Please RSVP no later than December 1.*

Current U-M campus protocols require masks be worn indoors at all times
except when eating and drinking. The Hussey Room in the Michigan League
is spacious and attendees will be able to maintain adequate social
distancing when eating and drinking at the reception.

I hope to see you there! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Michael
