*Dear Membership,*
*Now that the registration for the MMC is open, I know that many of you are
excited to sign up for the annual Conducting Symposium. As mentioned
earlier, we have two amazing clinicians this year: Dr. Mary Schneider of
EMU and Octavio Mas-Arocas of MSU. *
*Those who register to be a conductor, you will be able to choose from the
following selections to conduct. You will have 10 minutes on the podium.
Your time on the podium will be recorded and a video will be shared with
you via google drive. For pieces with movements, you can select 1 movement
to conduct.*
*Here are the selections to choose from: *
*Winds*
*Gustav Holst: Suite in F (mvt. 1, 3, 4)*
*D. Millburn: American Hymnsong Suite (mvt. 2,3,4)*
*Nishimura: Luna*
*Frank Ticheli: Amazing Grace*
*Hugh Stuart: Three Ayres from Gloucester (any mvt.)*
*Strings*
*Dvorak: Serenade for Strings in E Major *
*E. Elgar: Serenade for Strings*
*Sean O'Loughlin: Drops of Sun*
*Spots fill up quickly, so be sure to register as soon as you can to
conduct either the band or the orchestra. Observers are welcome to register
at any time and are encouraged to float between the band and orchestra
clinics during the afternoon portion of the symposium. Please be sure if
you are having someone else register you for the symposium that they know
which registration you would like to select. It has happened more than once
that someone was registered as a conductor when they intended to be an
observer.*
*For those who register to conduct, I will send an email in January to ask
for the selection/movement you plan to conduct.*
*Please let me know if you have any questions!*
*Mark Stice*
