Hello! Reaching out to make sure you, MASTA, and students know that one of
the most famous violinists performing today, *Ray Chen* will be making his
Wharton Center debut coming up on Saturday, March 16. *Specially priced
$19 student and youth tickets are available *(reg. $65-$25). Superstar
violinist Ray Chen has it all: charisma for days, a deep musical sense, and
incredible virtuosity. His performance with pianist Julio Elizalde puts his
talents on full display with a program including the grandest in the violin
repertory, Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 7 (“Eroica”), Bach’s cheerful,
high-spirited Partita No. 3 for solo violin, Giuseppe Tartini’s fiendishly
demanding *Devil’s Trill* Sonata, Dvořák’s romantic Slavonic Dance No. 2, a
special arrangement of Chick Corea’s *Spain*, and more. Please feel free to
send this information on to those you think would be interested in this
special event.

“Ray Chen is a paradox: the epitome of cool, yet a man with a zany,
anarchic and public sense of humour combined in a world-class violin
virtuoso with a technique of fire and ice.” -*Sydney Morning Herald*
“Colors dance, moods swing, and Chen’s artistry blazes.” —*The Times*,
London
“Chen’s full-bodied lyricism…made for beautifully contoured phrases in the
violin’s highest, riskiest registers.” —*The New York Times*
“Ray Chen can do pretty much anything he wants on the violin.”—*The
Washington Post*
"Charismatic and expressive, he took up the work like a Romantic hero...his
force evident in the many bow hairs he broke during the performance." *–
The New York Times*
