[MASTA] MASTA Board Updates

Greetings, MASTA Members!

As many of you know, May 15 is our Executive Board Transition Day. As some
of us step into our new roles, I wanted to thank all of you for this
opportunity to serve as your MASTA President. I am looking forward to
working with all of you to both continue and grow the tradition of string
music education excellence that we have here in the state of Michigan!
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with your questions, concerns,
and ideas for moving MASTA forward.

Please save the date for our MASTA Summer Retreat on June 30! This event
will be held on the campus of Michigan State University, and it will
include camaraderie, music-making, brainstorming, idea sharing, and free
food. :) More details will follow in the next week or two, but in the
meantime, please mark your calendars; we hope to see you there!

I want to take this opportunity to thank our entire MASTA Board for their
service to our organization, but especially Michael Hopkins for his 6 years
of dedication to MASTA as he served as President-Elect, President, and
finally, Past-President. Mike’s leadership and dedication to MASTA have
been incredible, and we have all appreciated his 6 years on the Executive
Board! Thank you to Jed Fritzemeier as well for his leadership as
President-Elect and President these past four years; I look forward to
continuing to work with him as our Past-President for the next two years!

Finally, please join me in welcoming Jim VanEizenga to the Executive Board
as our President-Elect. Jim is no stranger to the MASTA Board, having
served as our MMC Coordinator for the past several years, and I am thrilled
that he will be moving into this new role for MASTA! Jean Lee has
graciously accepted the position of MMC Coordinator, and we are excited to
have her joining our MASTA Board as well.
