Hello all,
Scott is obviously a top-tier presenter and clinician. I do support this
proposal, but perhaps it is not necessary....Could we bring him in to be
the MASTA headliner and also direct the teacher's orchestra? Perhaps we
could have him do 3 conference sessions and the orchestra. When I
directed the orchestra in 2013 I don't recall if there was a separate
honorarium from the one I received to be the MASTA Headliner. I did 4
sessions and conducted the orchestra. It was a bit much. Three sessions
may be better if he will also be conducting.
Moving forward, at the next board meeting we should discuss if we want
an additional line item on the annual MASTA budget to support bringing
in an out-of-state conductor for the MASTA Teacher's Orchestra.
Personally, I liked that we were selecting the conductor from within our
own state, but I could also see combining it with the MASTA Conference
Headliner. All the headliners from the past several years - Bergonzi,
Woolstenhulme, Meyer - would have been great directing the orchestra.
Thanks,
Mike
