Hello all,
We haven't discussed a headliner much for next year. We always have our
headliner do 4 sessions. We could potentially change that but that is
something Karen, Dan, Mike, and myself would need to discuss.
The teacher orchestra is also done in conjunction with the MSBOA as it
serves as the lab orchestra for the conducting symposium. I'm not sure if
they pay a stipend to be the clinician for the conducting symposium or not.
I will ask our MSBOA colleagues on the planning committee.
However, I would caution against using money to pay a clinician for
sessions that is not our headliner. The MMC gives each organization a
budget to pay to bring in the headliner. Should Scott be the headliner, we
would have no need for this grant to be approved as Mike said. If he is not
our headliner, I would worry about a potential conflict of it looking like
MASTA is paying people to come in to do sessions, when presenters have to
pay to attend the conference as it is.
Would it be possible to let the MMC committee people discuss who our
headliner is going to be, investigate what kind, if any, compensation the
symposium clinicians get, and then come back to the board with a
recommendation on this?
