[MASTA Board] Fwd: MASTA Grant Proposal - Teachers Orchestra

Jim, can you elaborate on what issues with past practice you foresee
arising from this?

I can't imagine there being any issue with event organizers pursuing grants
in order to bring in and reimburse quality clinicians, but we have a unique
situation here in which the potential grant-issuing organization (MASTA) is
directly involved with the hosting of the event. What are the potential
negatives of this? Would this be at odds with any MMC bylaws or conducting
symposium expectations? Or, for instance, would it be perfectly fine for
MASTA to sponsor an orchestra symposium clinician with the option for MSBOA
to do the same for the band symposium clinician if they chose to do so?
