Hey MASTA team - anybody out there have a lead?

Eastern Michigan University has very active student chapter of the American
Strings Teachers Association led by Weston Hosler (senior). Weston has
spearheaded an effort to locate and repair instruments to take down to New
Orleans for the Katrina school programs. This project has been ongoing for
about a year, begin his knowledge of the disaster. They started with
fundraising and then progressed to calling music companies direct and asking
for donations of old instruments. With the money they raised, they repaired
whatever needed to be repaired.

Thus far, they have collected 50 violins and violas, 1/4 size bass and a 1/2
size cello. They also have 2 boxes filled with donated music. They have
received donated bows, and miscellaneous parts for future repair.

Do you know of anyone who could help? The University students would like to
transport the instruments and music the last week of February. leaving Feb

24 (Saturday) and returning the first few days of March. While they are
down there, the University students plan on repairing and renovating as many
damaged instruments in the schools as they can. They are planning on taking

6 students if the vehicle is large enough. They have a trailer, donated by
UHAUL so they are in need of a vehicle to tow the trailer and transport the
"repair" students. Students don't have a vehicle sturdy enough to make the
trip.

Thanks for all you do and taking the time to do more!

Love, Val
