3rd Annual MSBOA / MASTA Teacher Orchestra - 2014 Michigan Music Conference

Looking to recharge your musicianship, rehearsal strategies, and conducting techniques through a participatory session? Through rehearsing Dag Wir én’s Sarenade for String Orchestra, the Grieg Two Elegiac Melodies, and for the first time, a full orchestra selection, Von Suppé’s Light Calvary Overture, with other string and wind teachers from across the state, clinician Kevin Miller will lead the MSBOA / MASTA Teacher Orchestra through a great day of music making and learning! After a morning of experiencing rehearsals as a “student” again, the Teacher Orchestra will serve as the demonstration/lab group for the Conducting Symposium, giving participants the opportunity to learn and observe techniques from several conductors under the tutelage of Kevin Miller. The Teacher Orchestra experience will culminate in a Friday night “feature performance”! (Music, for the Grieg and Von Suppé , is available for free download from http :// imslp .org . I will bring original sets of Wir én’s Sarenade for String Orchestra . If you would like to look at it ahead of time, I can send you a pdf copy. Please prepare in advance so that the day can maximize its focus on the musical aspects of the works. (SB-CEU’s are also available through the MMC for participation in this ensemble.)
