Dear MASTA members,

The 2018 Bass Bash festival will be held at the University of Michigan
School of Music, Theatre & Dance from 10 AM - 5 PM on Saturday,
September 15! Please share this email with anyone you know - students,
parents, other teachers - who may be interested in attending or sending
students to the U-M Bass Bash.

Bass Bash is a clinic for beginning, intermediate and advanced classical
and jazz bass students in grades 6-12 and their teachers. Students will
play in small ensembles, have a technique class, work on a massed
ensemble piece, and give a short informal performance at the end of the
day. We will also have a secondary instrument bass class for teachers
who are interested in developing their bass skills and learning about
double bass pedagogy.

U-M faculty will include:

Max Dimoff, Associate Professor of Music at U-M and principal bassist
with the Cleveland Orchestra

Robert L. Hurst III, Associate Professor of Jazz and Contemporary
Improvisation at U-M

Other guest faculty include
Larry Hutchinson http://music.wayne.edu/profile/cz5427
John Kennedy http://oyomi.org/john-kennedy/
Maggie Hasspacher http://maggiehasspacher.com/

and other guest faculty TBA.

Festival schedule and registration info can be found at
smtd.umich.edu/bass-bash.

The registration fee per student for Bass Bash will be $40. This fee
will include a t-shirt and lunch. We will provide pizza, lemonade, fruit
punch and water. We will have vegetarian and gluten-free pizza options
available. Students will need to bring their own instruments, bows, and
endpin stoppers.

There is an online registration form available. The link can be accessed
on the left side of the Bass Bash Info Page, or by going directly to:
http://smtd.umich.edu/departments/music-education/bass-bash/bass-bash-registration/

The online form is a great option for those who wish to register a
single student.

School orchestra or studio teachers who wish to register several of
their students at once and/or pay by check should download, complete and
mail the attached pdf registration form (can also be found on the Bass
Bash info page).

Let me know if you have any questions about the festival -
mhopkins at umich.edu.

Thanks!
