26th Annual Troy Bass Workshop

Dear Colleague:



Please pass this on to your bass students.  The Troy Bass Workshop  
will be held this year on May 15th at Troy High School (note the  
different location).  This is a unique opportunity for young bassists  
to get together and play ensembles, get instruction from nationally  
recognized bass teachers and performers, and get to know other young  
bassists from around the region.  We will begin registration at 8:30  
am. The workshop will start at 9:00 am and end with a short informance  
at 2:00 pm in the Troy High School Auditorium.  As always, teachers  
are welcome to come and observe (observation fee $15.00).



Joining me as clinicians for the workshop this year will be John  
Kennedy and Derek Weller.  John is a string teacher in the Farmington  
Public Schools and was formerly the Assistant Principal Bassist of the  
Honolulu Symphony. He has been nationally recognized for his work with  
young bassists.  He is a clinician at the Richard Davis Bass Workshop  
at the University of Wisconsin and the Bay Area Bass Workshop in San  
Francisco, and is the President Elect for the International Society of  
Bassists.



Derek Weller is Principal bassist of the Michigan Opera Theatre  
Orchestra, Professor of Bass at Eastern Michigan University and the  
Interlochen Arts Academy, bassist with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra  
and the Carmel California Bach Festival. Derek is bringing with him  
two outstanding student bass ensembles to perform for the workshop.   
The focus this year will be playing in ensembles.



Please encourage your bass students to join us again for a daylong  
celebration of our noble instrument.  If you have any questions
