Over the past few weeks, MASTA members were offered the opportunity to participate in a virtual performance. Spearheaded by Jonathan Glawe of Ann Arbor Public Schools, teachers all over the state practiced and recorded their parts to Sleigh Ride via Upbeat Perform. Upbeat Perform is a new software that allows musicians to record themselves playing a piece or section of music, and combine it with the recordings of other musicians. The software eliminates the need for hours on end of editing and calibrating, and can put a piece together in a matter of minutes.
Teachers from all around the state made their contributions to the performance, dressed in festive attire and with the spirit of fun and friendship in mind (and a few horse neighs, too!). It was a great way to relax and have some fun, and gave performers a bit of the joy that comes from playing music “together”.
