Michigan West Bass Fest 2015

Welcome to the Michigan West Bass Fest, the next generation bass workshop. At the Michigan Bass Fest young bassists will have a unique opportunity to get together with other young bass players, play ensembles, get instruction from nationally recognized bass teachers and performers, and hear some outstanding bass playing. The Michigan West Bass Fest is sponsored by the Michigan Chapter of the American String Teachers Association, and will be hosted by the Music Department of North Pointe Christian High School.

BASS FEST CLINICIANS

Derek Weller: Professor of Bass at Eastern Michigan University. He is the Principal Bassist of the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra. He teaches at the Interlochen Arts Academy and also performs with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and the Carmel California Bach Festival.

John Kennedy: String teacher and orchestra director for the Farmington Public Schools. He is a frequent clinician at bass workshops around the country. He is also the Past President of the International Society of Bassists.

Maggie Hasspacher: Special guest clinician. Maggie is a bassist and vocalist. She is a DMA student at U-Mich, studied in Vienna, and has released a solo singer/songwriter album We Shall Overcome. She has also sung on soundtracks for the History Channel and PBS. At the workshop Maggie will give us a special performance of her unique style of singing while playing.
